Looking to 2010, these are the big things I’m hoping to accomplish (tech wise):
- Relaunch DrunkenFist.com. I’m hoping to finally have it live by the end of January. It’s another HTML5 project and, in terms of both pages and traffic, is much larger than AWiderNet.com. With those two under my belt, I think I’ll have a solid grasp of the new semantic elements.
Now if we could just get some broad support for the new, fun elements and methods…
- Publish React.js. That’s the small utility library I use and I’ve always toyed with the idea of releasing it to see if anyone else might find it useful. It’s actually in a pretty good place right now. I rewrote the interface a little bit, so I’m happy with it right now. I just want to look at adding a couple of potential features and I need to write a proper test suite.
I struggle with adding features to it because features = overhead, but there are a couple of things I think would make it really ready for prime time, so I’m seriously considering them.
- Present more. I’ve got a few lined up already, but I’d like to regularly present this year. I’d also like to find opportunities to present outside of the Boston area. People around here are going to get sick of me…
- Contribute to an open source project. I want to contribute time and/or treasure to an open source project this year (beyond launching my own little project of course.) Which one is the question I struggle with…
- Write more. I haven’t been writing as much as I’d like. Being able to write, in detail, about subjects is a great way to solidify knowledge on a subject and I haven’t really been taking advantage of that as much as I would like.
Looks like a reasonable list to me. We’ll see how it goes. I might end up so busy with client work that none of them happen…
