We relaunched the Cramer blog today. It’s a soft launch. We’re hoping to shake out any kinks over the quiet time around the holiday. I did the initial HTML5/CSS3 templates and then shepherded the project for a couple of weeks* until I was freed up enough this past week to get the thing out the door.
The site uses Modernizr to fix the new semantic HTML5 elements in IE 7/8** and also takes advantage of the CSS3 and HTML5 feature detection scheme to enable the use of rgba, border-radius, and box-shadow. Having gone through it I’m happy to report that that Modernizr is basically painless. I’m also happy to report that the new semantic elements are maybe 3/4 baked. We’re still trying to wrap our heads around what exactly should be used where, but for the most part they’re pretty good. It helps that they seem to have been designed with blogs in mind, of course.
More later. Please let me know if you see anything crazy. It’s
*Shouting out Joe Morgan for finishing up the templates and Ryan for porting the site into WordPress.
** Currently there’s no IE6 support. I’m working on it!
